Adrian Hirst CEO from SkinnyBrands,
‘The beverage industry needs to modernise and evolve with the needs of consumers. It was inevitable this would lead to calorific content transparency. Consumers can make informed decisions. We at SkinnyBrands support the change.’
Under EU labelling rules the only food or drink that doesn’t contain a nutrition label is alcohol. Consumers traditionally are unaware of what is in their drink.
At SkinnyBrands we have created a 4% ABV premium lager that has 35% fewer calories than other premium lagers and 72% fewer carbs per bottle. During lockdown, we saw a 220% surge in sales. Consumers are demanding healthier options and lower-calorie alternatives, 78% of 18-35-year-olds are making more calorie-conscious decisions when drinking alcohol (Mintel 2018)
For SkinnyBrands nutritional and calorie, labelling is compulsory on all our bottles and cans, we have built a genuine trust with our consumers because of our transparency. At only 89 calories per bottle ( whilst also being vegan, gluten-free and kosher ), SkinnyBrands is proud to support the government and their mission to support Britons in making informed decisions and pay attention to ‘hidden’ calories in their food and drink.
