According to recent reports, Birra Moretti was the 3rd most popular lager brand in the UK, beating out firm favourites like Stella Artois and Peroni. Originally created in the Italian town of Udine in the Friuli region, Moretti has become a sleeping giant in recent years.
Available in almost every city centre bar, local pub and supermarket in the UK, it’s not surprising that Moretti is fast becoming a favourite with lager lovers. However, just how savvy are modern drinkers to modern brewing methods, and changes in lager in recent years?
Here at Skinny Brands, we thought that we’d ask the question, ‘How many calories are in a pint of Moretti’ to see how it stacks up against our own Skinny Lager.
Moretti has around 210 calories per pint or 122 calories per standard 330ml bottle. This number doubles if you drink a 660ml bottle of Birra Moretti, with 244 calories per bottle.
Read on to see just how well Moretti stacks up against our Skinny Lager for calorie content and carbohydrate content, gluten certification and Vegan Society status.
How Many Calories in a Pint Of Moretti?
There are 210 calories in a pint of Moretti. According to our own research, this is around 20kcal less than the average lager sold on UK shelves. Not bad. However, looking at this number against your recommended daily calorie intake, this amount of calories can quickly add up.
Many people are unaware of just how many calories they might be drinking on a Friday or Saturday night. With a pint of Moretti averaging between 8.4% and 10.5% of their daily calories in just one pint, you see how drinking a beverage with a high-calorie content can quickly contribute to possible negative health effects.
How Many Calories Are in a Bottle of Moretti?
As mentioned, there are 122 calories in a bottle of Moretti. This amount doubles when you drink a large bottle (660ml) to 244kcal per serving.
It is recommended that the average man doesn’t regularly consume more than 2500 calories per day, and this number is lowered for women to 2000 recommended daily calories. This means that a bottle of Moretti is approximately 4.9% of your daily calorie intake. Again, not bad, but this amount can quickly add up if you are having more than just a few beers regularly.
Birra Moretti Nutritional Facts
Looking at Birra Moretti, we can see that it actually has fewer calories than the UK average for a pint of lager. However, when compared to other lagers such as our Skinny Lager, this is still needlessly high.
Skinny Lager has only 89 calories per bottle, 33 fewer calories per bottle and 61 fewer calories per pint than Birra Moretti. This is a calorie reduction of around 27% across both measurements.
Let’s take a look at other nutritional facts, such as Vegan Society recognition, gluten-free status and carbohydrate content to see how each stacks up.
Is Moretti Gluten-Free Certified?
No, Moretti is not gluten-free. They list barley as a brewing ingredient and, as of 2024, they haven’t announced a gluten-free version in production.
Many modern lagers can produce lagers that contain absolutely no gluten at all, which makes them ideal for people with coeliac disease or other gluten intolerances. Skinny Lager is one of those lagers, and we also produce an IPA that goes through the same thorough process, too. The taste remains the same, however, you won’t get any nasty after-effects from the gluten intake, such as bloating, blotches or stomach cramps.
Is Moretti Vegan Certified?
No, Birra Moretti is not vegan-certified. Becoming Vegan-Certified is possible by meeting the strict criteria set by international standards agencies such as the Vegan Society.
The certification of alcoholic products such as beer or lager is important as many countries don’t require the brands to include a thorough ingredient list on their packaging. Becoming certified requires your products to undergo strict testing and use ingredients that have been specially created for the purpose of providing a vegan end product. As Moretti hasn’t gone through this process, they can’t claim to be certified vegan.
Skinny Lager, IPA and Skinny Fruit Cider have undergone the rigorous process of having every aspect of the production facility and brewing process reviewed. As such, we can proudly say that we are approved by the Vegan Society.
How Many Carbs Does Moretti Have?
According to their own nutritional information, Birra Moretti contains 2.8g of carbohydrates per 100ml or 9.24g per 330ml bottle. This equates to 18.5g per 660ml bottle or just under 16g of carbs per pint.
Compared to Skinny Lager, which has a carb content of only 3g per bottle or 5.1g of carbs per pint, if you are looking to reduce your carbohydrate intake, Skinny is the clear choice.
