The Free From Food Awards are the UK’s only awards dedicated to free-from food and drink. Skinny Lager has been shortlisted for ‘Best Gluten Free Beer’ after being a finalist for the first time in 2020.

Skinny Lager making it to this stage is a tremendous achievement, impressing a panel of judges, the lager has been selected as one of 12 top gluten-free beers. This carefully curated team of judges are experts in the field of gluten-free beer, including product developers and manufacturers, chefs, nutritionists and allergy reactors/advocators.
Skinny Lager is Coeliac Society Certified Gluten-Free
Skinny Lager’s place as a free-from finalist was announced on 17th May 2023, during Coeliac Awareness Week. Skinny Lager has been supporting Coeliac UK to spread awareness of this serious auto-immune condition, affecting 1 in 100 people.
People with coeliac disease have to follow a strict gluten-free diet, often limiting what food and drink they can consume. Skinny Lager is proud to be a shortlisted gluten-free beer that is also Coeliac Society Certified Gluten-Free, meaning we meet the strict criteria set out and controlled by the Coeliac Society.
Why Skinny Lager stands out amongst gluten-free lagers
Beers made with gluten-free ingredients, such as the malt from gluten-free cereals are suitable for a gluten-free diet, but they cannot taste the same as a standard premium lager. Skinny Lager is instead gluten removed, where barely is used and gluten is removed later on in the brewing process using enzymes. Gluten-free beers can often contain added carbohydrates to enhance the taste. This means they can be higher in calories than regular gluten containing lagers. Skinny Lager however removes the carbohydrates during the residual brewing process so there are only 0.9 per 330ml (average 72% fewer than other lagers) and only 89 calories (35% fewer than other lagers).
